TLDR
I've built an open source markdown based cv builder where users can use the pre-existing templates to quickly create one. You can check it out here: https://cvmd.vercel.app

Job Searching Struggle
As an unemployed Software Developer, you are not only against humans like every other job but you constantly wake up to competition from new and better version of LLMs. There is nothing much you can do other than keep applying, update your CV here and there, increase the radius you are willing to work from and hope for something other than a rejection email.
The whole process is frustrating enough. On top of that most cv creating platforms and their more-complex-than-it-should-be interfaces slow you down. Some are slow, some require you to create an account to make a CV, some require you to sign in to export, some have paid plans. All in all you waste countless hours just trying to build the right looking CV that you feel can standout.
The Weekend Project
As an unemployed software engineer looking for a job, I started this past weekend trying out different designs with the help of the LLMs. Then one thing led to another and I decided to build a platform to easily create and manage CVs with as little friction as possible. At an early stage I decided to make it a template based version where users only have to update the template's markdown and export it.
It took longer than I expected it to, even with Cursor doing most of the heavy lifting but now I feel it's at a workable state that I can go public and look for contributors to improve the code base and provide clean templates.
The Core Idea
The concept is simple: pick a template, edit the markdown, see it live, export as PDF. No accounts, no paywalls, no BS. Just your CV.
Key Features
The Current State
Right now, I have one template live - a simple one to showcase the platform. It's just a placeholder and not a good one as of now.
Future Plans
Below are some of the plans for this project:

Join the Journey
This started as a weekend project to solve my own problem. Now I want it to solve problems for others too. If you're interested in contributing, whether it's code, design, templates, or just feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
